Charlotte Mason Homeschool Planner for Ambleside Online
The Heart Behind this FREE Planner
Let’s just be real, I want to give my children a beautiful Charlotte Mason education but I’m on a budget. This is one of the biggest reasons why our family chose Ambleside Online for our homeschool curriculum.
Ambleside Online (AO) is a completely FREE online Charlotte Mason Curriculum. They offer plans, book lists and schedules for years 1 through 12 in education. They have been around for a while, long enough for students to start with AO and graduate completely using their program from start to finish.
AO provides printable schedules for years 1-12 with reading plans for 3 twelve-week terms each school year (36 weeks per year). They plan all of the books and subjects for you but it is up to you to purchase the books, snag them for free online or check them out from your local library. Most curriculum companies make you pay for the curriculum plan and the books, making Ambleside Online an affordable option.
With their book lists, they also provide links to purchase the books or find them for free online. They also provide all six of Charlotte Mason’s volumes for free as well as free access to the P.N.E.U. articles and blog posts to help you on your Charlotte Mason homeschooling journey.
Notice a theme with AO yet? They offer so much RICH curriculum and resources for FREE.
Ambleside Online was an easy choice for us as their heart for Charlotte Mason education is so very evident in all of the hard volunteer work they have put in for homeschool moms across the globe!
Any of the free resources you will find on my website (including this planner) has the same heart and intention behind it, being inspired by the founders of Ambleside Online. No need to purchase or type in your email, just download and go!
Using this FREE Ambleside Online Homeschool Planner
I’m a bit picky when it comes to planners. I don’t like a lot of extra fluff or tracking for things I know I’ll never fill out. I just want it to get the job done and let me write out my list!
Our family is an Ambleside Online “purist”. We use their curriculum exactly as they’ve pre-planned it for us. This planner is designed for lesson planning with Ambleside Online. This isn’t my daily planner for “life”, it’s my AO lesson planner.
There are only weekly spreads for the 3-term/36-week school year. No monthly spreads, extra habit trackers or “fluff”.
This planner was designed to work exactly alongside of Ambleside Online’s free downloadable schedules for each year.
Daily Work
You will find a “Daily Work” section that is already typed in for Monday-Friday. This was pulled directly from AO’s list of daily work on their schedules for years 1-3. There is also a bit of blank space if you need to add in anything extra for your family. Poetry has also been included in this section because AO recommends reading one poem per day from their term selections.
Weekly Work
There is a “Weekly Work” checklist on this planner layout. There is also a “Weekly Work” block available for each school day to allow you to “plug in” the weekly work as needed.
Subjects
There are also 4 subject blocks for each day so that you can plan your daily readings from Ambleside Online’s schedule for your student’s year. These are the four subjects listed on AO’s schedules for years 1-3 (Bible, History and Tales, Natural History and Literature and Tales).
Notes
I’ve also included a small section for notes. You can write in whatever you need here. I use it to write down the weekly habit that our family is working on cultivating. I’ve also used it as a place to write in my daughter’s favorite story from the AO readings that week. It could also be used to plan your read alouds for the week. Just whatever you need!
